Having figured out that the vultures were here because of the hawk yesterday, I now think I know why the hawk was here: under my bird feeder today I found a fresh pile of pigeon feathers. To tell you the truth, I haven't been feeling all that well lately, so it was disconcerting to see vultures gathering in my yard. :-0 I feel bad for the pigeon, but it was him or me.
