The last stop on our way home was Plum Creek Park in Lexington.
Instead of retracing our steps and going from Medicine Creek to
Lexington on the main highway, I noticed that the map showed a
Nebraska Highway 18 just 9 miles north of the SRA. We turned east
on Highway 18... and it was a gravel road! Not just any gravel
road.. It was hilly and bumpy and curvy.. for 20 miles! I was glad
Joshua was driving. We did see several pheasants, a few turkeys, a
couple deer, and even a bobcat as he slunk away under some trees.
I didn't even KNOW there were still state highways that were
gravel!
We made it to Lexington just as the sun was going down. Probably
would have been faster to retrace and go around. Oh, well.. We saw
some parts of the state we hadn't seen before! and that's the whole
point of this challenge.
