I love the fall colors of GTNP/YNP and the racks of the animals are so awesome.
But, the last few years they have been doing some controlled burns, thus lots of smokey skies.
That being said, I would do Zion and Grand Canyon.
Make sure you do the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Less crowded.
The drive to the North rim from Jacobs Lake is beautiful.
Now if you were talking a winter trip, YNP hands down.
