Now sorry for the long absence.

Now just back in town from being back in the Teton Wilderness here in Northwest Wyoming. I was back for near two weeks at my usual spring and early summer haunts at a place called the Soda Fork Meadows in the Teton Wilderness. Again for those that do not know, the Soda Fork Meadows is about 6 miles up the trail from the Turpin Meadows Trailhead at the end of the Buffalo Valley Road. It was Awesome and soooo wonderful like always! At first when I went in, here was the snow and everything nearby above the meadows. But how much during this time did the nearby snow melt and the meadows soooooo splendidly greened up. But when I came out yesterday, there is still sooooo much snow up high still to melt and all the streams back in here remain full of melting runoff.

Now during this entire time, I did Not see another person back in here in the wilds. But I had it all just to myself with all the usual going ons in what happens back here in the wilds. Like usual here every morning and evening here were the some elk, moose, and deer out in the meadows. Around were also so many various birds coming in for the season and had some Great Birdwatching! I though did not see a bear but about every day here were so many very fresh bear tracks on the local trails including some huge grizzly tracks. I have had my close encounters and no thankyou as to another. It was wonderful to see it all. How much it was like always - wild and wonderful!

Now also during this time, saw several members of the local Wolf Pack here in the meadows. I have seen this local wolf pack in here for years, maybe near 15 years or so. It is always such a delight in seeing them. But did notice some changes in their beavior as regards to their interactions to us humans. For years this local wolf pack in here did not display much fear of people. There was a multitude of times where they would come close to my campsite and we would stare at one another - wolf and human. It was such an experience. But in last fall's Wyoming Wolf Hunting Season, two members of this local wolf pack were shot and killed. Now this time when I saw these wolves, and they just caught a glimpse of me, they split and ran immediately! I mean they split and ran immediately! I thought wow what a change from what I had seen in the behavior of these local wolves previously. Maybe in the future with the Wyoming Wolf Hunting, it might become quite hard to see some of these backcountry wolves. Just thinking.

But the wilds were there, no other people around, and seeing the area with all the critters was like going home and seeing good old friends again.

Back in town just to take care of a few things then back to the wilds.

Wishing Everyone the Best!
