LOL, maybe I should just go to bed at 2:00 in the morning instead of going on rants when I'm already half-asleep. :-)
The point is, though, oil is a fast-dying source of energy. It's certainly done its part to bring us the modern conveniences that we take for granted today, but the age of oil is on the way out. Instead of clinging to it as our primary energy source and damaging protected areas in a desperate attempt to squeeze every last drop of oil out of the earth, maybe it's time we start prioritizing other energy sources and technologies to take over where oil left off. It's a cost/benefits thing. Sure, we could get a few more years worth of oil by tapping all of these protected lands, but is the benefit worth the cost? We're going to have to move away from oil in the not-too-distant future anyway, we might as well not irreparably impact our last remaining wildernesses in the process.
