Greg , we flew to LA , got rental car spent a few nights in ( California's secret ) amazing Idlywild , then Joshua Tree NP , then drove the coast up and stayed in Monterey , then drove to San Francisco for a 3 days , and stayed at Fishermans wharf , we toured Alcatraz and the next day hopped up to Point Reyes , and Muir Woods to see the redwoods, absolutely one of the most scenic , prettiest trips we have ever taken , and believe it or not , California is very isolated - tourist wise , we enjoyed very much , Jp
