Lots of people go wading/swimming in the Platte. There were even some there when we were, I just pointed the camera in the other direction.

There are several dams on the Platte in Nebraska. The largest is at Ogallala, and forms Lake McConaughy. There is LOTS of irrigation this time of year, too.
