Hurlbut was slightly NW. C-130s were doing night manuevers (touch and go) all night long. V-22 Ospreys would come over every now and then along with various other aircraft. The Blue Angels were in Michigan at the time I was there (I checked). The Naval Air Museum At Pensacola is a must see.
Our first night at midnight - the water dead calm and moonlight bright my wife was in 6 inches of water with a slightly deeper ledge beyond her. A 4-5 ft. shark was feeding on minnows in the shallows. Unless stepped upon or tripped over, I doubt there was any real danger but it was heart pumping to see.
