I'm posting this here because I know some of you aren't on Facebook.
Some of you may remember Loon Jereb. He only posted rarely, but certainly he was one of the Loons. I don t think it would be out of line to say that he was mostly a geyser gazer, but when he got tired of gazing we could coax him out on the trails. When we were hiking on a trail and suddenly decide to bushwhack somewhere, Jere would always say You mean we re going to waste this perfectly good trail ? I ve heard him say it numerous times.
He was told that he only had months to live, and that was years ago. He battled the odds so graciously and with good humor. So often I thought the end was near but he would rebound and shock me and the medical professionals. He finally succumbed to his illness yesterday and left the perfectly good trail that is life here on earth. I am heartbroken. He was one of the nicest people I ve ever known. I hope that I approach my demise with a fraction of the courage, humor, and grace that he did.
As Roadie mentioned on Facebook, If Jere were here, he would say give the prayer wheel a slap tonight .
