I have been using it since it was called Rawshooter. Benefits to me are the ease of use, not like a typical editing product. I am not very familiar with Elements; as such cannot give a good comparison. I would suggest trying LR, they have a 30 day trial. Would be happy to answer any questions you might come up with.
