I seem to remember reading something about this gag reflex phenomenon many moon ago, but I think it was someone advocating sticking a stick or a log down a predator's throat. I think it was regarding a big cat, probably the African variety.

It would be important to remember which species this might work on. I doubt it would work with a great white shark or a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
