I have a new appreciation for the practical uses of drone technology after viewing the video at the linked website.

For those unfamiliar with Iliamna Lake, it is in West Central Alaska, between Katmai National Park and Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. It is the second largest freshwater lake in the U.S. (behind Lake Michigan--the other Great Lakes are shared with Canada).

Iliamna Lake is home to one of the few populations of freshwater seals on the planet. You will get to see one briefly in the video.

It is hard to believe they didn't obtain footage of brown bears feasting on those sockeye! (Maybe that is "trophy footage", being kept under wraps for some more commercial use down the road.)

This may not have anything to do with Christmas, but it is well worth watching.

Enjoy!
