At first I thought they be mating but no . . 1. They were in the
water and I would think that would be easier done out of the water
but I'm no turtle behavioral biologist. 2. They appeared to be
trying desperately to drown the other one. I'm not joking about
that. They would grasp upending each other over and over
occasionally taking a break to gulp air and then going right back
at it. They let me get within 3 feet of them and paid me no mind
as they were quite intent on the others demise. Probably
territorial I would imagine. They were about a foot long front of
shell to back but I had never seen this before and thought it odd.
