I have been phoning and webbing in since 8:00 AM mountain time today. I never even got as far as the hold queue on the phone, but several times I got as far as the payment page before the web crashed (on both browsers). Eventually it came down altogether. I suppose what happens on May 1, more and more so every year, is akin to a denial of service attack. I don't know why Xanterra doesn't invest in a better system, but it's painful and miserable and in a lot of people, highly anxiety-producing, especially as the likelihood of catching a cancellation for the right days at the right place sometime in the next 13 months is darn near zip, zero, and nada, unless possibly you want mid-summer at Grant Village. VERY frustrating and MANY unhappy campers - or lodgers - out there today.

This is the current message (the latest of several variations on the theme that came and went all day) on Xanterra Yellowstone home page:

Make your Reservation

Our online reservations system has experienced serious technical issues that we ve not been able to resolve. All efforts are being made to correct the problem. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Xanterra is a government contractor. They need to step up their game. There isn't a single employee at Xanterra who handles anything to do with Yellowstone who didn't know what May 1 means to the reservations system.
