Not only does he have family ties with the West (he's from TX, his uncle was a US Marshal and TX sheriff, he wrote the screenplay for Hell Or High Water (Oscar for best original screenplay, if I recall), and Sicario, and he directed Wind River. I enjoyed all of those, so I'm looking forward to this series if it ever makes it to a format that I don't have to pay an arm and a leg to watch. He also has great empathy for Native Americans. I'm expecting this to be a good series.
