I saw on the YNP Park page that the west side roads should be open in late April. So I guess going before Memorial Weekend would be ok, as well as avoiding the tourons? This is what I might do. I just want to go and do some photography of pools and gysers and landscapes. If I see wildlife to photograph, that would be a wonderful bonus, but it is not my main objective.
