The Wolf Moon is the first full moon of the year, typically in
January, named for the wolves heard howling more frequently during
the cold winter months when food is scarce. It marks deep winter and,
in 2026, coincides with a supermoon, making it appear larger and
brighter, peaking around January 3rd, and is visible in the east
after sunset.
