Wehrspann Lake is one of four Papio Creek Watershed flood control reservoirs built by the US Army Corps of Engineers near Omaha. The lake and adjoining Chalco Hills Recreation Area are operated by the Papio-Missouri River NRD.
Bike, hike or jog more than seven miles of asphalt and concrete trails. There are 6 picnic areas with shelters and drinking water. Playgrounds are located near three of the picnic sites. A concrete boat ramp and wooden dock are located on the west side of the lake for no-wake boating. Anglers can try their luck on the 245 acre lake stocked by the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission with bass, walleye, pan fish and catfish.
