Thanks for spending the time posting all these photos that bring the past to life!

I can't help but draw a comparison between Courthouse Rock and the Pawnee Buttes in extreme northern Colorado, east of I-25, and south of I-80. The geology looks identical.

I've stopped numerous times at Split Rock in Wyoming, and pondered what it must have been like for the early pioneers to see that geologic feature for many days as they approached it, and many more days as they continued west. With 20th Century technology and roads, it was just a rest stop for a day's travel from the Boulder/Denver area of Colorado to Yellowstone National Park.
