I am not one of the '3 Real Posters', BUT thought I would recommend a couple of books.

"Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher" by Timothy Egan. It's a bio of Edward Curtis. I knew of him, but really not much about his life and work. If your interest is in western photographers, this might be a good read. It's been out for a couple of years.

"Badluck Way, a Year on the Ragged Edge of the West" by Bryce Andrews. It's new and the author's first book. I just finished it and liked it a lot. An inside look at ranching, wolves, and development south of Ennis Montana. The book is a easy enjoyable read and well written in my opinion.
