There's no Steak n Shakes out there at all. White Castle neither. They're going to try to feed you a bug or snail that came out of the Pacific. Don't do it!! Bring Cheetos. Lot's of Cheetos.
There's an Avenue of the Giants up in the redwoods. Humbolt St. Park, if I remember right.
When you get to Oregon, you need to go tide pooling somewhere. Out there on the rocks in the ocean, there's all kinds of starfish, anemones, urchins and such. It's highly entertaining for Mizzurah folk. Don't eat them though (see above)
You can see seals and otters just about anywhere. Stop and take a peak ever once in a while. There's several lighthouses along the Or. coast. Heceta Head LH is probably the most photogenic.
I thoroughly enjoyed the drive along the coast. Need to do it again some day.
