Those "FX" lenses work well with "DX" format Nikons

LOVE my FX Tamron 170-600 which is designed for FX bodies. The DX sensor, being slightly smaller than the FX sensor, effectively results in greater magnification.

Most simply, FX means analogous to 35 mm film, DX is "digital" proportions, a tad smaller than FX. FX format is considered superior and consequently is significantly more expensive. I'm happy on my DX budget, for now.

For this photo the lens was on my Nikon D7000 which is a reasonably modern body/sensor.
