Hi Geri,

Believe it or not, bears are seen crossing the Glenn Highway in this specific area (north of the truck weigh scales, but south of the Eagle River valley) with some frequency. One bear was hit in this corridor a few years ago, but thankfully, most bears make it safely across the road. (They don't show up during rush hour very often.)

This area can't be much more than a mile or two from our house, but the bears don't show up in our neighborhood very often. We average a couple of "bear in the neighborhood" alerts annually, but I have yet to see one.
