I first "met" Lew one morning when I was venting online about my
computer not cooperating...he happened to be on the page at the same
time and stepped in to help. When he couldn't find an answer after
about 30 minutes of back and forth he suggested that we take it to
email in search of a solution. When that didn't work either (I had
warned him that I was ignorant dealing with all things technical, so
I was not helping) he went yet another step to help. He gave me the
instructions to allow him remote access to my system, and proceeded
to go in and fix the system settings which were preventing things
from working. Thinking back I realize how much trouble I could have
been in by giving that information to a stranger, but somehow Lew's
patience and desire to help carried over the miles. I was always
grateful not only for that help, but also his assistance when
choosing a new computer system a few years later.
I was fortunate to meet Lew and Deb in person at a couple of Loonions
(as was Art), and got to see how genuine a person he was. And there
certainly was no doubt of his love for Yellowstone and the
surrounding area. The resources that he put on his websites were
invaluable tools for many of us on our trips west.
RIP, Lew......and hugs and prayers to Deb.
