the underling who admitted responsibility will likely get hammered for doing so. Then the circular firing squad will be formed, since someone with more stripes on their sleeve is probably guilty of having ignored the communications from the sewer district.

I still don't understand how the NPS or anyone else can prove precisely where the arsenic came from within Yellowstone.

The district's attorney is smart in requesting a jury trial, given the pre-existing anti-government sentiment in that area.

I predict that someone in the DOI solicitor's office will step in and do whatever it takes to defuse this before it ever goes to trial. In the end, it will cost the taxpayers more than if (1) someone had not admitted guilt already, and then, having done that(2) started ignoring inquiries about mitigation, and (3) effectively reneged on a commitment. Sounds like someone's career is in jeopardy!
