Here's something that was physically impossible a few short years ago. There is no way a team of climbers attempting to orchestrate the first successful winter ascent of K2 could divert to rescue climbers on Nanga Parbat, and get there in time without the aid of helicopters capable of ascending to unprecedented heights.

This is a bittersweet story, with both good and bad results, so don't read it if you are squeamish about such real life drama.
