The passage of time and technological advances in other online vehicles have gradually decimated this page. It is an irony that any of us could schedule some sort of event on any of the high membership Facebook pages, and probably draw hundreds to an activity in Yellowstone, but it would not be the same as the Loonions that brought folks together that knew each other well via John's original chat pages.
I would love to duplicate the posts I put on Facebook (2 Yellowstone groups, plus my own Timeline), which showcase Yellowstone news via media outlets and other online sources, but today's URL's are so lengthy that they exceed this page's parameters.
I have also found it so much easier to create and post trip reports with photos on Facebook. For me, it is all about user friendliness and how fast I can accomplish the task. Otherwise, like my blog post about my trip back from Alaska (which has been a work in progress for months, and still, not yet finished and posted), they either do not get done or take forever.
For me, this page still has significant value as a form of social "glue", where I can keep up with Loon news, but that's about it. Another irony is that there are Loons suffering from major health issues, who are over on Facebook, but nothing gets posted over here. I'm as guilty as anyone of not coming over here and posting that news. I don't have the luxury of the time to post something, and then provide periodic updates. I wish there was some time efficient way to accomplish meaningful updates, but I'm tied up in a full-time job that puts a lot of demands on my time.
Specific to your June visit, I could rendezvous with you and anyone else interested for a Loon Lunch on June 3, which is a Sunday. After that, I would not be available until the following Saturday, June 9.
