Howdy Loons,
For those of you who still like to read my trip reports, this is a
link where you'll find four new (old) reports from my 2016 visits.
I am still way behind but slowly making progress to get caught up
to the present. More coming in the next few months. Hope you

I noticed down thread some peculiar postings about Rick McIntyre.
Some people just don't like him (which will always mystify me.)
Those people are entitled to their opinions but not their own
facts. To whit:
Rick retired from the Park Service on 3/1/2018. He had been
planning it a long time. No one forced him. He is past retirement
age and has long wanted to write and publish. The date was once
set for Jan 1, 2018, but he decided to extend it in order to
observe one more wolf breeding season which ended 2/28.
The Park service does not plan to replace Rick (impossible
anyway!) which means there will be no-one with daily telemetry
available to visitors interested in seeing wolves. The wolf
project will continue its studies (with and without telemetry) but
there is no question things will be very different. I expect this
change will have both good and bad ramifications.
Rick still lives in Silver Gate and has been writing a lot. So
far, he has continued to drive into the Park most mornings on his
own time, to see wolves.
Rick was helpful to thousands upon thousands of Yellowstone
visitors. He was always especially attentive to kids, lowering his
scope or letting them sit or kneel on his metal stool. I wish him
well.
