Beej,
This surfaced on Facebook back in the winter. I looked at what was available back then, and got upset that Hollywood was doing what they do best---totally distorting and "using" whatever they choose to manufacture their sordid psychodramas. I personally don't watch their drivel, be it cops and crooks drama, doctor dramas, or overly wealthy people dramas. I know just enough about "Dallas" to know that it involved the fictitious "Ewing" family and was a big hit for many years. The "Who shot J.R. mystery" was a masterpiece of marketing. It totally dominated the electronic media that summer, and had me sticking my finger down my throat.
Costner has a knack for making shows that cast him as the hero. In this case, they simply borrowed a name, "Yellowstone", and capitalized on all the brand name recognition. I personally will refuse to watch the thing, knowing it was shot over near Darby, and will have little, if anything, germane to the real Yellowstone. I don't like rewarding Hollywood for their behavior, so like a disgruntled voter, I vote with my viewing behavior. At the same time, I recognize that Costner has a gift for appealing to the masses, so it would not surprise me to see this become the "Second Coming of Dallas", in terms of its viewership and longevity.
Yuck!
