IMO they are the most interesting too observe. I recall sitting on the little hill to the left of Grizzly overlook one evening with my son. A park naturalist and her friend showed up and a fellow that had an auto accident at Roosevelt Jct earlier in the day; he reminded me of one of the Craigheads and kept to himself. Before several Griz showed up to feed on a Bison carcass, some of the Bison circled the carcass and faced outward with tails erect. This continued for some time until the Griz began to show up; 4 that evening, one at a time took turns. No one there recognized the Bison behavior, but we all guessed they were defending the carcass. Never found an explanation of it. Could not get a decent picture with the failing light. Digi-scoped one of a Griz feeding the next evening.
