1.) According to the local media, the subject dirtbag was transferred to the Gallatin County Law and Justice Center pokey after spending an initial night in the old green painted structure down toward the chapel.

2.) Unless something has radically changed in the time I was in Alaska, every night in the summer, Yellowstone National Park has a population equivalent to being the third or fourth largest city in Wyoming. Talk to a long term law enforcement person, who (a) works in the park or (b) works in law enforcement in one of the border counties, and they will tell you stories that will chill your blood regarding some of the convicted felons that show up in the park, and victimize innocent citizens and visitors at large.

3.) The existing jail, which should have been replaced decades ago, is decrepit enough and small enough that when you temporarily incarcerate someone in there, you could be putting ammo in the hands of a sharp defense attorney who might fashion a claim of cruel and unusual punishment. The fact of the matter is when the new Justice Center was proposed and approved for construction, it was based partially on the need to replace the way outdated and maintenance-intensive jail. The story of how competing priorities, in terms of courtooms, offices, and other space allocation ate up all that new room could be a textbook case of bureaucracy run amok.
