Yes, yes, it's been a while (7 years??) since I've probably posted, but I do drop in maybe semi-annually just to read some posts...lol. Migrations of the loon, ha!
I'm tentatively reworking our trip with the hopes to still go, support the tourist economy of the area, and keep to just using the south and east entrances...time will tell if that's possible or not. I kept the reservations near Old Faithful, but cancelled Mammoth and Roosevelt. Sounds like those reservations might be a way to get in if the park decides to limit numbers of visitors which I've been hearing. We'll spend an extra day in Teton (favorite lodging anyone?) and another bonus day in North Dakota. All in all, still an amazing trip. I do want to make plans in subsequent years to visit specifically the northern areas when they are ready for visitors again to support Red Lodge, Cooke City, Silver Gate, and Gardiner even if access into YNP isn't possible from those directions. Beautiful places, all of them. There are now GoFundMe accounts and Red Cross donations to support those affected as well. For anyone coming across this post in subsequent weeks/months, feel free to add on. Coming from a tourism driven local economy here at home makes me want to go if reasonable and as long as tourists aren't putting a strain on services more than the area can handle. Fingers crossed.
